TGAC Hay Fever Smoothie

An effective anti-hay fever smoothie needs to include natural anti-inflammatories (e.g. turmeric and ginger) and natural anti-histamines (e.g. apples containing quercetin; leafy greens & kiwi containing plenty of vitamin C).

The black pepper is necessary to aid the uptake of turmeric by the gut.

This juice won’t be a fast acting solution, like over-the-counter medication is, but it may help to lessen the severity of your symptoms over the course of the season and reduce your reliance on pharmaceuticals.

Method

  1. Blend the water, apple, kiwi, kale and ginger root.
  2. Add the turmeric and black pepper to the blender jug and pulse mix for 30 seconds.
  3. Drink daily during hay fever season, continue even if your symptoms start to lessen.

 

If you don’t like the thick texture of green smoothies, you could juice the ingredients for this smoothie instead. You won’t benefit from the fibre and some of the nutrients, but you will still be consuming compounds that combat hay fever.
