Cacao Mocha Latte
A regular, shop-bought mocha latte provides a hefty dose of sugar and fat, and very little in the way of nutritional benefit. This delicious and healthy Mocha Latte recipe by comparison, is full of beneficial nutrients.
Cacao powder is made from raw, unroasted cacao beans that have not been processed or treated with chemical additives. Raw cacao has very high levels of cancer-fighting antioxidants as well as minerals such as magnesium and potassium. Raw cacao and pure cocoa powder are both suitable for a clean-eating diet, however cacao is a superior choice as it is unprocessed.
This drink is made with nutrient rich, low calorie almond milk, making it dairy-free and naturally lower in fat than its dairy counterparts.
- Prepare your coffee to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Heat the almond milk in a small saucepan until hot but not boiling.
- Pour a tablespoon of the hot almond milk onto the cacao powder, in a mug or small bowl, and mix well to form a paste. Gradually add more of the almond milk until the paste is liquid enough for you to be able to pour it back into the saucepan.
- Pour the hot coffee into the almond milk and whisk well. Then pour the latte into a serving mug.
