Hot Mulled Apple Juice

This hot mulled apple juice makes a lovely festive alternative to tea, coffee and alcoholic punch. Warm, fragrant apple juice is spiced with cinnamon, cloves and star anise. It is so quick to make and is suitable for the whole family.


  1. Add the apple juice, cinnamon sticks, star anise and cloves to a large saucepan. Heat gently, without allowing the liquid to boil, for 10 minutes.
  2. Thinly slice the apple and add to the pan for the last 2 minutes so that they warm through.
  3. Serve in heat proof glasses or mugs. You may wish to pass the drink through a small sieve as you pour it to prevent the cloves going into the drinking glass.
