Matcha Green Tea Latte

Matcha green tea powder has some powerful health benefits. It contains potent antioxidants including Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), a well-documented anti-cancer compound. Green tea also contains vitamin C, selenium, magnesium, zinc and chromium. As such it can be good for headaches and helps to improve concentration. Matcha green tea has also been shown to be very effective at supporting weight loss. Scientific studies suggest that this is because the tea increases the body’s rate of burning calories.

What more reason do you need to drink this stimulating Matcha Green Tea Latte! It is simple to make, diary-free and contains the additional health benefits provided by pairing it with almond milk (a brilliant source of vitamin E). It is best to pair green tea with a good quality nut milk, as soya and cows milk have both been shown to impair the benefits provided by green tea.


  1. Heat the almond milk in a small, heavy based or ceramic saucepan.
  2. Add the green tea powder to a small mug or bowl. Note – if you are new to green tea, you could start by making this latte with just ½ tsp of green tea powder and build up to 1 tsp. Mix with the hot water until dissolved.
  3. Add the green tea paste to the hot almond milk and whisk well.
  4. Add honey to taste, then serve.
